The Great Falling Away: When the Third Temple Falls Within

Disclosure: This is not “date setting.” I am not suggesting these events will happen on the dates listed. Rather, I am speculating based on historical patterns, current developments, and the day-counts given in Daniel 12—1335, 1290, and 1260—while aligning them with the remaining biblical feast days. If the upcoming lookout date occurs, then we can continue to watch—as the Bible commands us to do. The key is understanding Jesus’ words: “When you see the abomination of desolation… then…”

This article is not a claim of divine revelation, but rather a careful, scriptural observation of unfolding events. I am simply connecting dots—based on what I currently see and hear from Scripture, from what the Temple Institute is actively pursuing, and from the prophetic timelines outlined in Daniel 12 and Revelation.

The Third Temple Already Exists — And It’s Not Made of Stone

Many today are watching for the construction of a third physical temple in Jerusalem. But biblically speaking, the third temple is already here. It is not made with hands—it is the body of Christ, the believers, and the human body itself. Jesus said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up” (John 2:19), and the Scriptures affirm, “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19).

Even more clearly, Jesus told the woman at the well in John 4 that the time was coming—and now is—when worship would no longer be tied to a mountain or Jerusalem, but would take place wherever people worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth. In other words, He declared that you do not need a building to worship God—you can do it anywhere, because God now dwells in His people.

This is why it’s so dangerous to see people clinging to a physical temple. Most of the Jewish world remains stuck in the physical instead of the spiritual, expecting a temple of stone and a human priest, when the true temple and High Priest have already come.

The Temple Institute, however, is preparing to reinstate physical sacrifices and priestly rituals. One of their major focuses is the red heifer—bred and raised in Texas, shipped to Israel, and examined meticulously. They now claim to have a red heifer that meets the strict requirements of Numbers 19.

Their goal? Burn the red heifer, collect its ashes, and use them to ritually purify a priest. Once purified, this priest can serve in the restored temple system and resume animal sacrifices.

And here’s the sobering truth: they don’t even need a temple building to do it. According to both historical precedent (Ezra 3:2–6) and traditional Jewish law (Rambam, Hilchot Beit HaBechirah 6:15), a functioning altar and a ritually cleansed priest are enough to resume sacrifices.

The Abomination Is Not the Heifer—It’s What Follows

The red heifer sacrifice itself is not the abomination. It is what the ashes set up. According to Jewish expectation, once a priest is cleansed, he can be appointed and possibly proclaimed the Messiah.

This is key: In Jewish belief, the Messiah is to perform the 10th red heifer sacrifice. But the 10th red heifer offering has already been fulfilled—by Jesus Christ, our once-for-all sacrifice (Hebrews 10:12–14). If a man comes forward and offers another red heifer and claims to be the Messiah, or if others claim it for him, this is the abomination.

It is a rejection of Christ as the final offering.

Worse still, when sacrifices resume, it removes the Continual Offering—the daily, ongoing atonement that is only available through Jesus. Daniel 12 and 2 Thessalonians 2 warn of this very moment.

What the Temple Institute sees as a holy moment will, in reality, be tragically ironic. What they believe to be the rebirth of temple service would actually mark the fall of the true temple—the body.

So while the abomination itself may set up on March 20, 2026, we can now say that the Third Temple—the body—began to crumble on the 9th of Av, August 3, 2025. That red heifer was the trigger. It set in motion the process of purifying a man to replace Christ—and for all who accept that counterfeit system, their temple is defiled and begins to fall. (Dates are Speculative)

This moment could very well initiate the Great Falling Away spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2:3: *”Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the falling away comes first…”

The Prophetic Timeline — Based on Daniel 12

Daniel 12 gives us three distinct day counts:

  • 1335 days — A blessing for those who reach it
  • 1290 days — From the abomination to its desolation
  • 1260 days — The final witness and tribulation period

Here’s how these numbers unfold, based on the current movement around the red heifer and temple sacrifices.

🔴 Red Heifer Burned

📅 9th of Av – August 3, 2025
1335 Days
🔚 Passover – March 30, 2029 (Nisan 14)

Reaching that final Passover while still clinging to the blood of Christ—the true and eternal Lamb—is vital. Those who endure through this time without embracing a restored animal sacrifice system are holding fast to the only atonement that remains. But for those who turn to animal offerings, they step away from the sufficiency of the cross. They no longer walk in the once-for-all sacrifice that Jesus fulfilled.

“Blessed is he who waits and comes to the 1335 days.” (Daniel 12:12)

The proposed burning of the red heifer on the 9th of Av—a date that historically marks the destruction of both the First and Second Temples—is loaded with prophetic irony. What many will celebrate as the rebirth of temple service will, in truth, signal the beginning of the collapse of the true temple—the body, the dwelling place of God in man.

If the red heifer is burned on the 9th of Av—a date when both the First and Second Temples were destroyed—it would be tragically ironic. What they believe to be the rebirth of temple service would actually mark the beginning of the crumbling of the true temple—the body.

🧼 Abomination Set Up (Priestly Purification)

📅 March 20, 2026
1290 Days
🔚 Desolation – September 30, 2029
(Hoshana Rabbah – 21 Tishrei, the Final Judgment)

“From the time the daily is taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate is set up, there shall be 1290 days.” (Daniel 12:11)

This is when the red heifer ashes are used to cleanse a priest—a man declared clean not by the blood of Jesus, but by animal ashes. This is the abomination set up.

🐑 Sacrifices Resume / The Continual Removed

📅 March 31, 2026 (Nisan 14 begins at evening)
1260 Days
🔚 Last Day of Trumpets – September 11, 2029 (Yom Teruah – 2 Tishrei)

“They will prophesy 1260 days, clothed in sackcloth…” (Revelation 11:3)

This day, coinciding with Passover, is when the first animal sacrifice resumes—publicly ending the work of Christ in the eyes of those who participate. The Great Tribulation begins as the true atonement is denied, and the two witnesses (likely a symbol of the faithful church) begin their prophesying.

Why This Timeline Fits — Not Just Logically, But Biblically

Mainstream prophetic timelines often assume a 7-year tribulation built on one verse (Daniel 9:27) and ignore the feast days. They expect a man to walk into a building and declare himself God. But Scripture points to something far more subtle and spiritual:

  • Jesus is the continual offering (Hebrews 7–10)
  • Our bodies are the temple (1 Cor. 6:19)
  • The abomination is a spiritual usurpation of His role

This timeline:

  • Honors every feast day
  • Uses accurate Torah timing (evening-to-evening)
  • Places every Daniel 12 day count on a biblically significant date
  • Aligns with actual developments in Israel

The pieces fit.

In Closing: A Counterfeit Is Being Prepared

It’s not a physical temple that needs to be rebuilt—it’s the recognition that we are God’s temple, and Jesus is our continual offering. If the red heifer is burned, and if a priest is declared clean and resumes sacrifices, that temple will fall—for all who accept it.

This is not fearmongering. It is watching. It is testing. It is holding fast to the One True High Priest.

Test everything. And stay close to the Cross.

The countdown may already be ticking.
