“These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’S passover.”
— Leviticus 23:4–5
“Holy Convocations” (Hebrew: miqra kodesh)
- “Holy” (kodesh) means set apart—sacred, distinct from the ordinary.
- “Convocation” (miqra) means a public assembly or a calling together.
But it can also imply a rehearsal—a powerful insight when considering these days are rehearsals for God’s redemptive plan.
📖 So, holy convocations are sacred gatherings commanded by God, not just for fellowship, but to remember, rehearse, and celebrate what He has done, is doing, and will do through His appointed times.
🔸 “Proclaim Them in Their Seasons”
- “Proclaim” (Hebrew: qara) means to declare aloud, announce, or summon.
- “Seasons” (Hebrew: moedim) means appointed times—not based on man’s calendar, but divinely scheduled events.
🕊️ In other words:
God is telling His people to publicly declare and observe these sacred days at their appointed times, not whenever we feel like it, but exactly when He has set them.
