God is all-powerful and can do all things. One of the greatest demonstrations of His power was becoming a man in Jesus Christ to die for our sins. If God had come in His full glory, He could not have died, but by coming as the Son of Man, He was able to shed His blood for our salvation. This article will explain why accepting that God has the ability to take on human flesh is essential and how Jesus directed all glory back to God as a man.
God Can Do All Things
The Bible teaches that nothing is impossible for God:
- Jeremiah 32:27 – “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”
- Matthew 19:26 – “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
- Luke 1:37 – “For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Since God can do all things, He has the power to take on human form while still being fully divine. To say He cannot is to deny His omnipotence.
God Became Flesh to Die for Our Sins
God, in His full divine glory, is eternal and cannot die. That is why He humbled Himself and took on human flesh so that He could shed His blood for our redemption:
- John 1:1, 14 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
- Philippians 2:6-8 – “Who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!”
- Hebrews 2:14 – “Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.”
If Jesus was not fully man, He could not have died. If He was not fully God, His sacrifice would not have had the power to save all of humanity.
Man Prays to God – Jesus as the Perfect Man
Some people ask why Jesus prayed to God if He was God. The answer is simple: As a man, He did what all men should do—pray and worship God. He was setting an example for us:
- Matthew 26:39 – “He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.’”
- Luke 5:16 – “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
- John 17:1 – “After Jesus said this, He looked toward heaven and prayed: ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.’”
Jesus was not praying to Himself. He was acting as a man, giving all glory to the Father, as all men are supposed to do. He demonstrated perfect obedience and worship.
Denying God’s Power to Become a Man Contradicts Scripture
To reject that God could take on flesh is to limit His power, which contradicts the Bible:
- Isaiah 9:6 – “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
- John 10:30 – “I and the Father are one.”
- Colossians 2:9 – “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”
Since God can do all things, He could enter His own creation as a man while still being fully divine. To deny this is to say that God cannot do something, which contradicts His omnipotence.
Conclusion
God has the power to become a man, and He did so in Jesus Christ. If He came in full glory, He could not have died. By humbling Himself as the Son of Man, He was able to shed His blood and fulfill the mission of salvation. As a man, He prayed and worshiped God, doing exactly what all men are called to do—giving glory to the Father.
To deny that God could take on human form is to deny His power, which contradicts the Bible’s teaching that God can do all things.
Would you accept the power of God to do this, or would you say that God has limitations?
